Telangana: The bye-election to the Huzurabad assembly constituency in Telangana is set for Saturday, with the ruling TRS, the opposition BJP, and the Congress locked in a triangular contest. District collector RV Karnan said on Friday that a total of 2,37,036 voters are eligible to vote. There are 1,17,933 male voters and 1,19,102 female voters among them. In the constituency's 306 polling stations, voting will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 7 p.m. There have been 1,715 polling personnel deployed, including presiding officers. In the polling stations, he said, "live webcasting" would be done.

According to reports, 107 polling stations have been identified as sensitive, and extra forces have been deployed there. A total of 3,865 police officers have been deployed to ensure a smooth election process. Twenty Central Forces companies have also been deployed. In Huzurabad, the bye-election was forced by Eatala Rajender's resignation in June, following his removal from the state Cabinet over allegations of land grabbing.

Though there are more than 30 candidates in the race, Gellu Srinivas Yadav (TRS), Eatala Rajender (BJP), and Venkat Balmoori are the front-runners (Congress). The bypoll is a make-or-break opportunity for Rajender, while it is crucial for the BJP as it seeks to challenge the ruling TRS in the 2023 Legislative Assembly elections. It is critical for the TRS, which would like to demonstrate that its hold on state politics is unchallenged. The election would be held on November 2nd, and the votes would be counted.
