New Delhi: Delhi's Kejriwal government has relaxed corona curfew and allowed markets, malls and restaurants to be opened. From gyms, spa centres to liquor shops, approvals have been given. A large number of people are reaching the markets and shopping. But even after that, devotees are not allowed to enter the temples so far. Temple administrators question that if pizza huts, markets, malls, gyms and liquor shops can be opened, why are temples still closed?

Talking to media, Chief Administrator of Jhandewalan Devi Temple Nandkumar Sethi said that a week ago, the heads of several temples had urged the Delhi government that temples should also be allowed to be opened following the covid protocol. But the Government has not given any consideration to the request.

The operation cost of Jhandewalan temple alone every month comes to Rs 5 lakh. The temple has more than 100 employees engaged in cleanliness, safety, clerical and other activities. The temple has a Gaushala in which 300 cows are being looked after. At the same time, the Temple Institute runs many social welfare centres, such as teaching like sewing and embroidery to poor women, are given to them etc. Along with the temple operation, it costs a lot, including electricity and water bills. But the continuous closure of the temple has created an economic crisis for them.
