Deepotsav began with Aarti at Mahalaxmi temple here in the morning and now photos of the time are going viral. There is a belief associated with this ancient Mahalaxmi temple in Ratlam. It is said that keeping your money here from Dhanteras to Bhaidooj increases its manifold. Due to this, many devotees keep their money and jewellery in the Mahalaxmi temple for 5 days from Dhanteras. Due to this, so much cash and jewellery is collected in the temple that for 5 days the temple looks like Kuber's treasure.

After 5 days, devotees withdraw their cash and jewellery by giving tokens. Sanjay Pujari of Mahalaxmi Temple explains that "administrative arrangements are made to protect cash and jewellery.'' At the same time, CCTV cameras are installed and police arrangements are also around the temple.
