Bangkok: Despite the several efforts of the police and the government in Thailand, the drug business continues to grow. There is large-scale smuggling of drugs and its consumption among the people. During a recent raid at a temple in central Thailand, priests there were found drunk. All priests of a Buddhist temple in Thailand's Phetchabun province tested positive for methamphetamine drugs during a raid on Monday (November 28), a local official told the media. These included the chief priest.
According to the report, Sam Phan District Magistrate Boonlert Thintapthai of Fetchboon province has informed that a Buddhist temple in central Thailand has been evacuated because all its priests (monks) have been found positive for the drug test. The official has informed that all the priests have been sent to the drug improvement home.
At the same time, the villagers are upset with the temple being vacated since this incident. They say that they are not able to perform any kind of religious rituals. District Magistrate Boonlert, however, said he would soon arrange priests at the temple so that people could perform religious rituals.
