Kolkata: The cases of coronavirus have started increasing rapidly in different states of the country. Meanwhile, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has said that restrictions cannot be imposed everywhere, as it can affect the economy. Bengal CM was present at Ganga Sagar in South 24 Parganas. A fair is going to be held in Ganga Sagar in January. Mamata Banerjee has clarified that restrictions will not be imposed during the Ganga Sagar Mela. She questioned whether the bans were imposed during the Kumbh Mela? She said that how can we stop the people coming to Ganga Sagar Mela?

While talking to reporters here, CM Mamata said that 'Most of the cases of Omicron are coming from people who are reaching here by flight from the UK. It is true that only those coming from international planes are bringing the infection. The government should ban planes coming from those countries where cases of this variant are very high.' The Trinamool supremo said that his government is constantly monitoring the growing infection seriously.

She also indicated that restrictions will be imposed in view of the situation and the economy will not be ignored. CM Banerjee said that 'We have to see the safety of the people. We will make a decision soon. We will target those places where cases have increased. We cannot impose restrictions at all places as it may impact the economy.'
