CBI Arrests Fmr JKLF Commander Javed Mir 'Nalka' In IAF Officers

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested former Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) commander Javed Ahmad Mir. He will be produced in court on 23 October. Nalaka is one of the earliest terrorists who were trained to operate in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Javed Mir is said to be close to separatist leader Yasin Malik.

Significantly, Yasin Malik and his associates were accused of killing 4 air force officers and killing 22 people in Sanat Nagar area of Kashmir on 25 January 1990. In August 1990, the CBI filed a charge sheet against Malik and his associates in the TADA court in Jammu, on whose hearing a single bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court in 1995 had stayed the ground that since there is no TADA court in the valley, hence The case cannot be heard in Jammu.

After thirty years, it has now been allowed to hear the case in recent months. Yasin Malik is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in the custody of the NIA in connection with Terror Funding. On September 11, the court directed the CBI counsel to submit Malik to the TADA court in Jammu. After that, the TADA court in Jammu has postponed the hearing against separatist leader Yasin Malik till 23 October in the murder case. The court has allowed Malik to appear before the court through video conferencing.
