New Delhi: At least 100 civilians are reported to have been killed in jihadist attacks over the weekend in the African country of Burkina Faso. A local citizen and a security source have given information in this regard on Monday (June 13, 2022). The government says at least 50 people have been killed in jihadist attacks in Burkina Faso. The attackers had attacked on the night of Saturday and Sunday in the Setenga Commune in Seno province, which is present in the border areas.

Islamic terrorists linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State have been rebelling here for a long time. The attackers targeted civilians in this horrific attack. A local source told Reuters that at least 100 people had been killed in the attack. Another local source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that the number of civilians who died temporarily was 165. The United Nations condemned the attack in a statement on Monday and advised officials to get justice for the people as soon as possible. It is being said that the government may release the exact number of dead later.

Armed terrorists killed 11 soldiers in the same area last week. In 2019 alone, jihadist attacks in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso killed 4,000 people and forced at least 600,000 people to flee their homes.
