Jammu & Kashmir: Yesterday, militants attacked a police post in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir killing a policeman and wounding two persons. It was suspected that the killings happened as the activists tried to snatch the weapons of local policemen positioned at a minority post.
According to a senior police official, "Militants tried to snatch the weapons of policemen posted at Reshnagri minority post. The attempt was resisted by the policemen resulting in a shootout in which three persons, including a civilian and two policemen, were injured.”
The deceased was identified as a constable Nazeer Ahmad and in a gunbattled constable Zahoor Ahmad suffered with injuries. The militants are absconding and an investigation has been launched to trace the convicts.
