According to Insideevs, which cited photos provided by Drive Tesla, Tesla has begun installing the first set of Megachargers to support the delivery of its first set of Semi pickup trucks for PepsiCo. The first Megachargers were installed at Frito-facility Lay's in Modesto, California.

PepsiCo is expected to receive the first batch of Tesla's all-electric Class 8 trucks soon. Though the CEO of the beverage company, Ramon Laguarta, had hoped for it to happen before the end of 2021, it is now expected to happen in January. PepsiCo has placed an order for 100 Tesla electric trucks in order to save money on fuel and reduce carbon emissions from its fleet.

As per the report, which cites Drive Tesla, the Megacharging station now under development in Frito-factory Lady's would have four stalls and a high power output of up to 1.5 MW. The chargers are linked to a Megapack energy storage device, which will protect the grid from peak electrical surges.

Tesla's Giga Nevada battery gigafactory, where the Semi was said to have commenced limited production last month, already features a Megacharging station. Despite the fact that commercial production of the Tesla Semi is not scheduled until 2023, the Semi pickup EV project is allegedly progressing.

Karat Packaging, a distributor and manufacturer of environmentally friendly, disposable foodservice products and related items, announced late last month that it may add Tesla Semi pickup trucks to its fleet. According to a report by Motor 1, the company may add 10 Tesla Semis to its fleet of 86 trucks and trailers. Tesla claims that its semi-electric vehicle will be able to travel 805 kilometres on a single charge and tow 80,000 lbs.
