Canada has initiated an investigation into Tesla's heating system as a result of user concerns. The country's vehicle safety regulator began a probe into the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y's heating system on Thursday. The decision comes after 16 customer complaints concerning the operation of these electric automobiles' heating systems during cold weather. Transport Canada, the country's automobile safety regulator, is worried that a faulty heating and air conditioning system might result in windshield defogging or defrosting, reducing driver vision. On a busy roadway, anything like that may prove disastrous for the passengers.

"When a company discovers of a fault that might jeopardise a person's safety, it must notify Transport Canada and all existing owners. These alerts are known as "safety recalls" in the industry "In an official statement, the agency stated. The agency also stated that Tesla has been notified of the probe.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, remarked in 2020 that the Model Y heat pump had some of the greatest engineering he has ever seen.

However, a number of Tesla car owners in Canada have recently reported that their electric vehicles' heat pumps are failing in extremely cold weather. They claim that the heating issues persisted even after Tesla replaced faulty heat pump sensors in some 2020-2021 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in early 2021.

While Canadian officials are looking into the matter, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States has yet to take any action. The current probe might lead to a recall for the impacted Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, which are the company's two most popular models.
