Tesla said that it delivered almost one million electric cars (EVs) throughout the world in 2021, well exceeding its own goal of boosting deliveries by 50%. Last year, Tesla delivered 936,000 electric vehicles, roughly double the number it had the year before. According to sources, the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y were the most popular electric vehicles from the American manufacturer, with 911,208 units delivered in total.

After that, 24,964 Model S and Model X units were sold. These are Tesla's premium models, which cost about $100,000. Tesla delivered 308,600 units in the fourth quarter, accounting for the majority of the boost in sales.  While the delivery figures are excellent, what makes them even more remarkable is that they were achieved amid a slew of global issues that have plagued the automobile industry as a whole.

While the global scarcity of semiconductor chips remains, the pandemic has been a massive issue. Tesla has also been scrutinised by safety agencies in nations like as China and the United States, with the most current investigation into the autopilot functionality by the NHTSA in the United States.

Add in the fact that Tesla doesn't operate in as many areas as some of its direct and indirect competitors, and you get a picture of the company's dominance in the places where it does operate. While a country-by-country breakdown of units shipped isn't public yet, it's reasonable to assume that China and the United States have fueled Tesla's growth.

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, recently turned to Twitter to express his gratitude to Tesla employees for going above and above during the holidays to ensure that deliveries were completed on time. Musk became the world's wealthiest person in 2021, and his climb has been fueled by Tesla's great performance.
