Tesla vehicles, which are known for their autopilot capabilities, keep attracting attention for their ever-evolving driver-assist technology. Their vehicles are known for having advanced autopilot or remote driving technologies that allow users to operate them without go behind the wheel. However, if recent incidents are any indication, things are likely to alter much more.
The electric transportation behemoth now intends to make driving totally autonomous. According to reports, Tesla CEO Elon Musk discussed plans to sell a $25,000 (Rs 18 lakh) electric car without a steering wheel with his staff. Last year, during the Tesla Battery Day event, Musk promised that the EV (electric vehicle) maker will produce a $25,000 car that will be entirely self-driving.
He made it clear that Tesla's new battery cell and battery production efforts, which may cut battery costs by more than half, are responsible for the new pricing point. The $25,000 automobile, nicknamed the ‘Tesla Model 2' unofficially, has been compared to a new electric hatchback that Tesla has been intending to build at the Gigafactory Shanghai in China and export internationally.
