According to a US regulatory, Tesla has recalled 5,78,607 electric vehicles in the US because pedestrians are unable to hear the approaching car's warning sound due to loud music or other sounds played in the EV's Boombox function.

According to several reports Tesla has issued a recall for some 2020-2022 Model S, Model X, Model Y, and 2017-2022 Model 3 electric vehicles because the Boombox feature in these vehicles enables sounds to be played through an external speaker while the vehicle is in motion, which could have obstructed the Pedestrian Warning System sound. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), they do not meet a federal motor vehicle safety standard for EV minimum sound standards.

According to the source, Tesla will install an over-the-air software upgrade that will block the Boombox capabilities when the car is in Drive, Neutral, or Reverse mode. The Boombox was released in December 2020, according to the EV firm, and NHTSA made an information request in January 2021. Over the next few months, there were several virtual meetings on the topic.

According to Tesla, the NHTSA upgraded its investigation into the issue in September as a result of this. The electric automaker disputed the testing and reasoning used to assess Boombox's compliance in October, but after two days of meetings last month, it agreed to a recall.

In the last four months, Tesla has issued around ten recalls in the United States, including four in the last two weeks. The NHTSA has been examining the electric vehicle manufacturer. Tesla stated that it was not aware of any incidents, injuries, or deaths as a result of the vehicle alert issue that caused the latest recall.
