Amritsar: Blocking of roads by protesters before PM Modi's arrival at Hussainiwala's rally in Ferozepur on Wednesday has become a major issue ahead of the assembly elections in Punjab, to be held a few days later. According to media reports, Firozpur DIG Inderbir Singh and SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans were about to receive PM Modi in Ferozepur district, but 200 protesters blocked the road. Due to this they could not reach the PM.
Due to the traffic jam, PM Modi's convoy was stuck on a flyover for 15 to 20 minutes. During this, the announcement of the PM being trapped in this regard was also announced from the nearby gurudwara. Hearing that, more farmers gathered there. Then seeing the security of PM Modi at risk, the SPG team had to decide to remove him from there. There has been a sharp reaction of many leaders on the lapse in the security of PM Modi.
BJP chief JP Nadda said, 'It is sad that PM Modi's visit to start development projects worth thousands of crores for Punjab got interrupted. But, we will not allow such poor mentality to hinder the progress of Punjab and will continue our efforts for the development of Punjab. At the same time, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, 'It is a matter of great shame that the protesters stopped PM Modi's convoy on the way to lay the foundation stone of development schemes for the welfare of Punjab. This is a serious security lapse and the Punjab CM has made the issue worse.
