Guwahati: A 50-year-old man was shot in the leg in the Morigaon district of Assam while he was trying to escape from police custody. The bullet hit the accused in the knee after which he was taken to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he is recovering from his condition. He was arrested for raping three minor girls.

After which the accused had confessed to raping four minor girls during interrogation. The incident is being told at 12.30 pm on Thursday (December 23, 2021). Morigaon district superintendent of police Aparna N has informed that the accused Rajni Kanta Daimary was being taken to his house to recover the underwear of his fourth victim, hours after his arrest, during which this incident happened.

Daimari was arrested for raping three minor girls and during interrogation, he had confessed to raping the fourth girl as well. He told police that the undergarment of the fourth victim was lying in his house and police took the accused to his house to recover the undergarment. Meanwhile, he tried to escape on the way when the police shot him.
