Ranchi: A court in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on Saturday sentenced 3 persons to 25 years rigorous imprisonment in connection with the rape of a minor girl four years ago. The court also imposed a fine of 80,000 rupees on each. In case of non-payment of penalty, he will face additional imprisonment of 3 years.

Additional District Judge-5 and Special POCSO Court Justice Sanjay Kumar Upadhyay on Tuesday convicted Shiv Kumar Mahato, Indrapal Saini and Srikanth in the case, after which the sentence for the culprit was announced on Saturday. Police had registered a gang rape incident on the statement of the victim in January 2018 who was working as a maid in a residential society in the Mango area of Jamshedpur. An investigation is on against 22 other criminals including one Deputy Superintendent of Police in the incident.

On the other hand, a case has come to light from the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand. The complaint has been filed by Richa Bhairavi, who lives in TI Colony in the Jharia police station area of Dhanbad. According to Richa, she is associated with the People for Animals organization. For the past few days, a sick dog named Bhairavi had been roaming near her house. Richa was serving the dog as he was unable to move. Enraged by this, Subodh Bharti, who lives in her neighbourhood, assaulted the dog and bled him to death. When Richa went to save the dog, Subodh misbehaved with her too. She lodged a complaint with the police station but the police did not take any action. Richa then informed People for Animals Chairman Maneka Gandhi on the call. Maneka called the police and registered an FIR in hurry.
