Rome: Ferrari, a legendary supercar manufacturer, has unveiled the brand-new Roma Spider for international markets. The automaker recently teased the roadster model on its official Twitter account.

The supercar includes a new electrically-foldable fabric roof and keeps the majority of its coupe variant's design cues. It uses the same 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine with 612 horsepower.

Ferrari, one of the most prestigious automakers, is renowned for its long history in racing as well as its powerful V8 and V12 engines. The Roma was launched by the automaker in 2019 as a transitional model between the base-model Portofino and the track-ready F8 Tributo.

The company has now added an open-top "Spider" model in response to the generally favourable feedback for the coupe variant.

The Roma Spider adopts a flowing and understated design philosophy similar to that of the iconic 250 GT Lusso model from the early 1960s, in contrast to the angular-appearing F8 or LaFerrari models. It has a long, swooping hood, stylish wheels with star patterns, raked windscreen, and LED headlamps with integrated DRLs. The rear is adorned with LED taillights, four exhaust tips, and an active spoiler.

The Ferrari Roma Spider's interiors are made to surround its occupants in luxury. The 18-way electrically adjustable bucket seats have leather upholstery, a soft-touch, all-black dashboard, Alcantara door pads, and a redesigned steering wheel with an integrated touch screen. It features an 8.4-inch infotainment panel that is stacked vertically and a 16.0-inch curved digital instrument console.

Due to the electrically retractable fabric roof, the Ferrari Roma Spider weighs about 84 kg more than the coupe version. At speeds up to 60 km/h, the soft top can be extended or retracted in just 13.5 seconds. The roof is made of unique multi-layer fabric weaves that can withstand the 320 km/h top speed of the supercar. The vehicle also has a system for deflecting wind.

The same 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine from the coupe model powers the Ferrari Roma Spider. The mill can produce 760Nm of peak torque and 612hp of maximum power. An 8-speed DCT gearbox serves as the roadster's transmission.
