Initially, it was considered an intrusion and it was said that they would be removed in a few days. But knowing the tactics of the intruders, the Indian Army realized that there is a plan for a large-scale attack. After this, the Government of India sent 2 lakh soldiers to the front under Operation Vijay. The war officially began in May, ending on 26 July 1999.
