October 2nd, 2019, Jaipur: Khadi fair is being organized from 2nd to 9th October at Jawahar Kala Kendra in collaboration with Rajasthan Khadi Gramodyog to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji, which was inaugurated by Honorable Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Gehlot.  Shri Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the khadi fair by opening the thread of yarn.  Over 500 artisans and craftsmen from all the districts of Rajasthan displayed their products. In the changing perspective, Bapu's spinning wheel has also changed, which is evident while showing the new and old charkha at the Khadi fair, as well as the loom machine has also been displayed, which is showing positive trends in the youth about Khadi while Khadi is being adopted as a fashion statement.  All kinds of products like wool, cotton, silk, khadi have been included by the artisan weavers from different districts of the country.

On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the state government has decided to give special discounts on Khadi products, which is expected to set new records for the sale of Khadi.  Apart from various Khadi fabrics, there are also leather products from gram-udyogs, honey, shoes, pottery and furnishings which can be seen directly at the Khadi fair.  

A housing scheme for artisans was also announced by the Rajasthan Housing Board which is named as Mahatma Gandhi Dastakar Nagar Yojana Nayala whose registration booklet was released while on the other hand, the exhibition organised by IICD was also inaugurated by the Chief Minister.  After Khadi Fair, he also inaugurated Gandhi Utsav which was organised by Seher Sansthan.

Events on Gandhi Jayanti began at 7:30 am in the morning with prayer meeting at Gandhi Statue, Secretariat; after which there were many events organized at Gandhi Circle also on JLN Marg.

Singer Sunanda Sharma and Legendary Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan presented classical musical extravaganza in Central Park which was organised by Spic Macay in joint association with Jaipur Development Authority which was attended by Jaipurites in large numbers.

The event schedule for October 3rd will commence with inauguration ceremony of Gandhi Saptah, which will run from October 2 to 9, will be held at Birla Auditorium at 10 am.  After which, there will be social welfare session happening from 11: 30 am to 01:30 pm and a cleanliness conference is also scheduled from 03:30 pm to 05.30 pm.  World renowned fashion stylist and fashion consultant Prasad Bidapa will present the Gandhi Heritage Show at 7 pm.
