London: King Charles III of Britain will be crowned on May 6, according to a statement made on Saturday by Buckingham Palace.

On September 8, 2022, eight months after the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, the official ceremony will take place. Charles succeeded her as king of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms after she passed away.

Charles, 74, and Camilla, 75, will be crowned at Westminster Abbey together. Elizabeth asked Camilla to take on the title of queen consort, which is given to the spouse of a reigning monarch.
