Batala: 4-5 miscreants came to a goldsmith's shop near Bank Colony in Batala around 9 pm on Thursday. The miscreants had a gun. As soon as they arrived, they pointed a gun at the shopkeeper and asked him to move away and the shopkeeper fired. Meanwhile, firing started on both sides. In which Goldsmith was shot. The shopkeeper sustained serious injuries due to bullet injuries and lost his life during treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep Raj alias Deepak resident bank colony Batala. Police have also nabbed one of the attackers. On receiving the information, DSP City Parwinder Kaur rushed to the spot and started taking stock of the situation. The police continued their operation till the time of writing the news.
According to information received so far, Batala SSP Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar has said that some robbers had come to the goldsmith's shop on Thursday night with the intention of looting. The shopkeeper confronted the robbers without fear. Goldsmith was shot dead in the firing between the two sides. Due to which he lost his life. Police have also constituted 12 teams to investigate the case. Where it has been found that one of the robbers was shot. Police have nabbed one of the injured assailants in a swift manner. The SSP has said that CCTV footage is also being scanned. The other accused will be taken into custody soon.
