A Surat based activist, Yuvraj Pokharna who shot to national and international fame with his Wedding card projecting ‘facts’ about the “Rafale Deal” which was the pivotal issue of the 2019 Lok Sabha election. This card got him a fame worth dying for, so much so that PM Narendra Modi himself greeted him officially! His wedding was covered on national television by every channel. Since then, this 29 yr old activist is said to be one of the most popular faces, if not the most popular, on social media representing Surat.

His psychotic yet sassy tryst with social media is quite confronting one and entertaining as well. Not just that. Back in June 2019, there was a national hullabaloo when the video of Mamata Banerjee, CM of West Bengal went viral where she abruptly stopped her convoy to daunt and brow beat villagers chanting “Jay Shri Ram” just to call them BJP agents. This guy then gifted her “Valmiki Ramayana” putting a message on Twitter that she wouldn’t hate Bhagwan Ram if she knew HIM and hence the gift. Though Mamata Banerjee rejected his gift. Come 2020 and the whole controversy of Kangana Ranaut vs Uddhav Thackery, followed up by the shiv sena goons beating up a 62 yr old navy veteran black and blue, this young activist crossed all levels of civility and decency by gifting a lipstic  to CM Uddhav.

He justified this misogynist act by stating that a lipstick is not to be considered as a sign of weakness but boldness and it emboldens a women wearing it and that the message is clear that ‘the woman’ (Kangana Ranaut) has taken over the helm of affairs. He continued that he feels CM Thackery is incompetent to govern and run the state. So much so was the impact that following his post on Instagram, around 2000 people shared the post and consequently, Uddhav and Aaditya, both had to change their privacy settings on the platform so that none can tag them from now on. As fate would have it before this controversy ceased, the same day a story regarding a doctor from his town Surat went viral where the family resorted to crowdfunding to save the young doctors life who was grappling with covid and awaiting lung transplant, film producer Manish Mundra volunteered and coordinated with him to have a word with the family and subsequently a sum of 4 lac was transferred to save the 37 yr old corona warrior, Dr Mehta, who in turn saved a patient’s life a month ago while himself being on oxygen supply.

Taking a break from creating ruckus on social media, a few days later he tweeted  ‘alleged notified documents’ from some marriage sub-registrar office in Kerala potraying the gruesome cases of the state being the ‘Love Jihad’ capital subsequently his tweets shook the social media platform resulting in a Left Vs Right situation and his account suspension. This contentious chap, whether a social media exhibitionist or rebellious protagonist is an interesting  one to watch out for in the coming times.
