Army dog 'Axel' lost his life in a terrorist operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday. The police have said that the army dog 'Axel' was shot by the terrorists. The terrorists opened fire on 'Axel' when he was sent inside to find out the whereabouts of the terrorists. Axel had saved the lives of many security forces by sacrificing his life.
'Axel' served the country till his last breath: Army officials have said that during a building clearance operation, initially another army dog 'Balaji' was sent for building intervention and the corridor was sanitized from inside. After which 'Axel' was deployed. 'Axel' went to the first room and was cleared. As soon as he entered the other room, they started firing on Axel. Even after being shot, 'Axel' showed some movement for 15 seconds and then he fell down. Axel's body recovered after the operation was over.

At the same time, the postmortem report of 'Axel' found information about more than 10 wounds and fractures of the femur. The deployment of 'Axel' was in 29 Rashtriya Rifles. Tributes have also been paid to him today. Apart from 'Axel', three security forces were injured in this encounter, while one terrorist was also killed.
