Tokyo: After nearly two decades, the Eliminator name will soon make a comeback to Kawasaki's lineup. When launched, the motorbike will probably compete in the sub-500cc cruiser segment.

On March 22, the Japanese bike maker will debut the two-wheeler at the upcoming Bangkok International Motor Show. Most likely, it will be powered by the same 399cc parallel-twin engine as the Ninja 400 model.

One of Kawasaki's best-known monikers in the 1990s was the Eliminator, which dates back to 1985. There were many different engines available for cruiser motorbikes, ranging in size from 125cc to over 1,000cc.

In addition, the company's strategic business partner Bajaj Auto had released a 175cc version of the motorcycle in India under the name Kawasaki Bajaj Eliminator. This motorcycle later changed its name to Avenger.

The upcoming Kawasaki Eliminator will adopt the 'Sugomi' design philosophy and design cues from its older sibling, the Vulcan 650. The fuel tank will be sloped, the handlebars will be wider, the headlamps will be oval shaped, the seat will be split, the exhaust will be side mounted, the fenders will be bigger and the lighting will be all-LED. A digital instrument cluster and custom alloy wheels will be included with the motorcycle.

The upcoming Kawasaki Eliminator will feature dual-channel ABS, disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, as well as riding modes for improved ride and handling characteristics, all designed to enhance rider safety. Telescopic forks and a monoshock unit will handle the front and rear suspension duties respectively on the cruiser motorbike.

The 399cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, parallel-twin Kawasaki Eliminator engine is likely to be the same as the Ninja 400 model.

Maximum output of the mill is 45.3 horsepower and maximum torque is 37.2 Nm. It should be mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The pricing and availability details of the upcoming Kawasaki Eliminator will be made public by the motorbike maker at a launch event sometime in late 2023.

The company will make this bike public on March 22 at the Bangkok International Motor Show. We anticipate that the cruiser motorbike will be priced competitively to compete against the recently released Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 in India.
