Dehradun: The Ankita Bhandari murder case has created a ruckus in Uttarakhand. Demonstrations are taking place at many places to get justice for Ankita, daughter of Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, Ankita's body reached Srinagar (Uttarakhand) on Sunday morning, where she was to be cremated today. But the family members refused to perform the last rites. The victim's family told that they do not believe in the action of the administration. Until Ankita's post-mortem report comes, she will not perform the last rites of the daughter's body.

Ankita's father Virendra Bhandari has sought an answer to his question from the government. He asked why did the government demolish the resort? Whereas there was all the evidence. It has also demanded that the Ankita murder case should be conducted in a fast track court so that the culprits can be hanged at the earliest. Ms Rana, the maternal uncle of the deceased said that till the post-mortem report is not made public, we will not perform the last rites. However, we are not ruling out performing the last rites.

Let us tell you that Ankita Bhandari, who worked as a receptionist at Vantara Resort, went missing on September 18 from the Chilla Barrage area. His body was recovered from a canal in Rishikesh on Saturday (24 September), almost a week after he went missing. The body was then taken to AIIMS Rishikesh for postmortem. On Saturday too, a large crowd of people had gathered outside the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh. These people had gathered to protest against the murder of 19-year-old Ankita Bhandari. The protesters demanded capital punishment for the perpetrators. He also alleged that the ruling BJP government in the state is trying to cover up the cases as the main culprit and resort owner Pulkit Arya is the son of BJP leader Vinod Arya.
