The first shipment of Moderna Covid vaccine arrives in Egypt

CAIRO – Egypt has received the first shipment of the Covid-19 vaccine from US drugmaker Moderna, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Population. "A total of 784,280 doses have been delivered to Cairo International Airport," said Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar.

According to media news, the shipment is part of the Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access Facility, which is run in collaboration with the Vaccine Alliance.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Egyptian Drugs Authority have granted an emergency use authorization for the Moderna vaccine, which consists of two doses separated by 21 days.
