Lucknow: A district Panchayat member committed rape on Tuesday night on a young woman in the name of giving a house in the Gauribazar area of Deoria in Uttar Pradesh. On the complaint of the victim, police have registered a case against the accused Zila Panchayat member. The 22-year-old girl from a village in the Gauribazar area has alleged that Zila Panchayat member Sunil Nishad, a resident of Burdgonia, called her late on Tuesday night on the pretext of giving her a house and made her sit in her four-wheeler. A companion was also present in the vehicle.
The Panchayat member took her to a nearby village school. There, the Panchayat member committed the heinous act of rape with her. In the early hours of Wednesday, Sunil's accomplice fled in a car leaving her on the road near her house. After informing the family members about the incident, the victim reached the police station and lodged a complaint against the Panchayat member. Police have registered a case of rape.
Based on the complaint given by the victim, a case has been registered against a person named Sunil under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police said that the investigation into the case is on and further action will be taken based on the facts.
