Ranchi: On Thursday, the cabinet of the Jharkhand government has given the green signal to the proposal to hold panchayat elections in the state. Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel gave this news. He said that this proposal would be sent to the Governor and the State Election Commission would be written to announce its dates. Talking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Alamgir Alam said that after the matriculation examination, elections can be held in mid-April. The date will be announced by the State Election Commission. The commission has already been instructed to prepare for the elections.

It is noteworthy that the tenure of Gram Panchayats in the state has ended in December 2020. Since then the Panchayats have been running on extension for more than 1 year.
