Govt decided to collect toll tax on these 17 roads

Bhopal: Preparations have been made to impose a toll tax on 17 roads of MP. Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation will sail a tender for the collection of fees. The 5-year contract can be extended by another 5 years. However, this toll will be collected from commercial vehicles. Officials of the state's Public Works Department said that the recovery is being made for the maintenance of the roads. The amount from the toll will be spent on the development and maintenance of roads. Tax will be charged from commercial vehicles. There will be a rate hike based on the Wholesale Price Index per year, which will be effective from September.

The roads on which toll has been decided in Madhya Pradesh are Shajapur-Dupada-Kanad-Pachlana-Pilwas-Nalkheda, Mohanpur-Behat-Mau, Panna-Ajaygarh, Ashta-Kannoud, Persona-Mhowa-Barkha, Murar-Chitora, Mahua-Chuwahi, Katni-Vijayraghwad-Barhi, Hardua-Chakghat, Ujjain-Maxi, Nasrullahganj-Khatgaon, Til-Chargaon-Chargaon road. Apart from this, toll collection will be done on Rewa-Bankuiya-Semariya, Sanawad-Khargone, Badnawar-Thandla, Dabra-Bhitarwar-Harsi, Khatkia-Binaganj road.

However, as per the rules, these persons will be exempted from toll on these routes. These include MP-MLA, vehicles of former MPs and MLAs, ambulances, fire brigades, vehicles belonging to the Indian Army, vehicles belonging to the Central or State Government, vehicles belonging to the Indian Postal and Telegraph Department, tractor-trolleys used for agricultural purposes, auto-rickshaws, two-wheelers and bullock carts, freedom fighters and preferred journalists.
