In Pakistan, a serious incident of medical negligence has come to light in Sindh province. The staff of a rural health centre in the province cut off the head of a pregnant woman due to her delivery and left it in her womb. Thereafter, the life of a 32-year-old Hindu woman was saved. According to a report received, the Sindh government has constituted a medical inquiry board to get to the bottom of the incident by showing strictness over the incident.

Raheel Sikander, head of the gynaecology unit of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) in Jamshoro town, said, "The Bhil Hindu woman hails from a remote village in Tharparkar district. She had gone to a rural health centre in her area, but there was no gynaecologist available there. The inexperienced employees caused great harm to the woman by their negligence. He said that in the surgery conducted on Sunday, the RHC staff cut off the baby's head in the mother's womb and left it inside the uterus.

When the woman's condition started deteriorating and the risk of her life increased, she was taken to a hospital near the nearby Mithi town where there was no treatment facility. Finally, the woman was taken to LUMHS where the newborn's head was removed from the mother's womb and the mother's life was saved. Dr. Sikander said that the child's head was stuck inside and the mother's uterus was broken. To save the mother's life, she had to undergo surgery and the stomach had to be opened and the baby's head was pulled out. Director General of Sindh Health Services, Dr. Juman Bahoto has ordered a separate inquiry into the matter. He said the inquiry committee will find out what the whole incident is. The absence of a gynaecologist and a woman employee in the rural health centre is also being investigated. The inquiry committee will also look into the reports that the woman was photographed when she was moaning in pain on a stretcher. Dr Juman said, "Some staff members took photos of the woman on a mobile phone in the gynaecology ward and shared those photos on various WhatsApp groups. '
