Dehradun: Every other person infected with covid in Uttarakhand has seen only symptoms of omicron. This has been uncovered in the genome sequence report of corona samples of Government Doon Medical College. The medical college has confirmed omicron in 54 per cent samples in genome sequencing test of 159 samples. But Covid's omicron variant is proving less deadly than delta.

Genome sequencing of 15% samples: Director General of Health Dr Tripti Bahuguna has said that 2255 corona virus-infected samples from all over the state are to be sent to doon medical college laboratory for genome sequencing. Against which genome sequencing report of 159 samples is also being received. The Omicron variant has also been found in 85 samples. All the samples were found infected with a corona in the state. About 15 per cent of the samples have been tested for genome.

The Director-General has said that the infection from the omicron variant is spreading even faster. This is leading to an increase in infected cases. The effect of omicron is not very deadly. Most of the people have recovered from living in home isolation. A person already suffering from another disease has to be admitted to the hospital if he is infected but there is no need to panic about omicron. There is a need to be vigilant to prevent infection. All people must follow the covid compliant behaviour. Avoid wearing masks as well as going to public and crowded places.
