In the last twenty years in India, snake bites have estimated the death of about 1.2 million people. However, according to this study, about half of the people who died due to snake bites or snakebites survived between 30 years and 69 years. One-fourth of the deaths included children. Snakes of 'Russel Viper' (Daboia), 'Karait', and 'Nag' species are responsible for most deaths with snakebites. There are at least 12 other species from which the survivors have been killed. Most cases of snake stings results in death because people do not have easy access to medical help in those far areas.
Nearly half of snakebite incidents occur during the monsoon season, that is, between June to September. During this time, snakes are out of holes and most of the time the snake bites are found on the victim's feet only.
Data have been collected for research from India's ambitious 'Million Death Study' project. 'Russels Viper', which is found in almost all of India and South Asia, is also known by many people as the Daboia snake considered as the most dangerous species of snake. These dangerous snakes foods are rats, squirrel which is often found around the residential area of humans.
