New Delhi: The new year celebrations in the Rajouri Garden area made it difficult for a roadside man to listen to a handicapped beggar. The beggar, along with his companion, stabbed the man to death. Police registered a case and arrested the culprit Santosh Panjiyar (65), a resident of Muzaffarpur Bihar, and Saathi Vinod (20), a resident of Tagore Garden, 12 hours after the incident. Police have seized two SIM cards, blood-stained clothes, knives and scooty from the possession of the criminals. Santosh had fallen asleep with the body to ensure that people did not doubt it. The man has been identified as Chandan, a resident of Subhash Nagar.

He had left home to celebrate the New Year with his friends. Deputy Commissioner of Police Urvija Goel said that police received information about the body of the man in a slum near Surya Grand Hotel in Subhash Nagar at 4.45 am on Saturday. The body belonged to the man and he had knife marks on his neck and chest. He was identified as Chandan, a resident of Subhash Nagar, in the interrogation of local persons. He used to do small things. She was last seen with her friends Varun and Vikram. The trio had gone together to have a New Year's party at Ansal Plaza.

Police took his accomplices into custody and questioned them. The duo said Chandan had gone to Surya grand hotel to get a cigarette around 12.30 pm on December 31. Police launched a search near Surya Hotel. The investigation revealed that Chandan had an argument with a beggar named Santosh Panjiar. Both were under the influence of alcohol. Police arrested Santosh and questioned him. He said Chandan was abused due to the argument. He was later beaten up. As a result, his partner Vinod reached there and then the duo thrashed Chandan and stabbed him to death. Vinod went home from Scooty. While no one doubted Santosh, he fell asleep near Chandan's body. Police have arrested Vinod on his trail. The matter is also being investigated by the police.
