Actress Uma Maheshwari, who was nominated for the South Indian Jagat Show called Metti Oli, died suddenly on Sunday. Uma was 40 years old and suffering from illness. Uma is survived by her husband Murugan, a veterinarian. Several South Indian film industry has taken to social media to express their condolences to Uma's family.

It has also been said that Uma Maheshwari had been suffering from jaundice for the past few months and was undergoing treatment but had recovered completely recently. However, she again had jaundice, which had been undergoing treatment for a long time. Talking about Uma Maheshwari's projects, she was seen in shows called Manjal Magimai and Oru Kadhaiyin Kadhai.
