The much loved, erstwhile Prime Minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi was born on the 3rd of June, 1924 in Thirukuvalai in Madras to a couple, Muthuvelu and Anju.

In school, Karunanidhi was interested in dramas, literature, and writing. At the age of 14, he got into politics and also carried his passion of drama and writing, along with his political journey, which was filled with twists.

He wrote screenplays for various Kollywood movies. His last movie was Ponnar Shankar that released in the year 2011.

He got married to Padmavati, who was his first wife. After her, he married Dayalu Ammal. His third wife was, Rajathi Ammal. He had 4 sons and two daughters.

M. K. Mutthu was his son from his first wife. From his second wife, he had three sons, M. K. Alagiri, M. K. Stalin and M. K. Tamilarasu and a daughter M. K. Selvi.

From his third wife, he had a daughter,  Kanimozhi.

He was an influential writer and an impactful orator.

He had a great fan following all over the state.

His reputation in the state was such that he never lost an election for an MLA post.

He became the Chief Minister of the state 5 times in a row.

He and his ideologies shall always be remembered.
