Despite several issues, director Sudipto Sen's The Kerala Story, starring Adah Sharma, is making noise. The picture is not slowing down at the box office and is quickly becoming one of the biggest grossing films of 2023. The Kerala Story has crossed the Rs 150 crore mark in India in just 12 days and is continuing performing well at the box office. The film appears to be on track to reach the Rs 200 crore milestone at the domestic box office.

Taran Adarsh, a film trade expert, took to Twitter on Wednesday to release a poster for the film as well as its current box office stats. Taran posted on Twitter. “The Kerala Story is now the second highest grossing Hindi film of 2023… Overtakes TJMM and KBKJ to claim the second spot… [Week 2] Friday ₹12.35 crore, Saturday ₹19.50 crore, Sunday ₹23.75 crore, Monday ₹10.30 crore, Tuesday ₹9.65 crore. Total: ₹156.69 crore. India biz.”

Sudipto Sen wrote and directed the film Kerala Story. Recently, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri issued a warning to the team of The Kerala Story, which included producer Vipul Shah, Sudipto Sen, and Adah Sharma. Vivek had stated that their lives will "won't be the same."

Last month, a controversy erupted after the trailer for The Kerala Story stated that 32,000 females from the state went missing and ultimately joined the terrorist organisation ISIS. The Kerala High Court recently noted that the filmmakers had included a disclaimer beside the trailer on YouTube, stating that the film is fictionalized and is a dramatized interpretation of events, and that the film does not claim authenticity or factuality of historical events.
