New Delhi: The matter of hate speeches has now reached the highest court of the country. A petition related to this has been filed in the apex court on behalf of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a large organization of Muslims. Maulana Syed Madani, on behalf of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, while giving a statement in the apex court said that there has been an increase in the cases related to hate crime in India, on which the apex court should take cognizance.

It has been urged in the petition that an independent committee should be constituted to look into the complaints related to hate crime and speech. Further investigation of such cases should be done under the supervision of the court, such a demand has been made. It has been specifically written in the petition that provocative statements are being made targeting the last prophet of Muslims, Prophet Mohammad.

In this petition filed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in the Supreme Court, apart from the Central Government, Delhi Police, Tripura State have been made a party. Violence had erupted in Tripura in the past. There were allegations of remarks and sloganeering against Prophet Muhammad.
