New Delhi: Delhi Police will remove several layers of barricades in a phased manner at all the three farmers' movement sites based on the movement of protesters who started returning home from December 11 after the farmers' agitation ended. The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday decided to suspend the agitation against agricultural laws and announced that farmers camping on three borders of Delhi - Singhu border, Tikri border and Ghazipur border - will return home.

The announcement came after SKM, who is leading the kisan movement, received a letter signed by the Central Government agreeing to consider the pending demands of farmers including withdrawal of cases registered against farmers and setting up of a committee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. According to Delhi Police, security has been tightened at the agitation sites to monitor the movement of farmers. Deputy Commissioner of Police (External North) Bijendra Kumar Yadav said that farmers have formally announced that they will start returning home from Saturday but it is not a time bound exercise as their agitation will continue throughout the day.

He said that based on a large number of farmers' agitation, a number of barricades, including cement, will be removed simultaneously. The police will also take up the work of removing the barricading in a processed manner. Officials said the temporary structure to accommodate police personnel will also be finally removed.
