Mahakaal’s Grand Corridor inauguration was recently done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Various beautiful scriptures are installed there and Mahashivaratri in celebrated largely in Ujjain’s  Mahakaleshwar Temple. It is one of the 12 jyotirlingas. The festival is celebrated on the banks of river Kshipranear the Mahakal forest in Madhya Pradesh. Mahashivaratri is on the 18th of February and if you are looking for a place to travel on Shivaratri then Mahakaleshwar is Best. Besides the temple and beautiful scriptures, MahaKaal also has some secrets and stories.

Secret Behind the Name MahaKaal: Kaal means death and time and it is believed that in ancient times the time of the whole world was determined from here, hence it was named Mahakaleshwar. Mahakal appeared when a demon was troubling the common people. After the death of the demon on, the residents of Avanti city built a temple and named it Mahakaal. So it symbolizes both death and time.

No king, No minister or ruler spend the night near the temple: Lord Mahakal is the king of this city and no other king can live here except him. It is believed that since the time of Vikramaditya, no king or minister in the city spends the night near this temple. There were many interesting stories related to this.

For a long time Congress and then BJP MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is also the king of Gwalior, has not stayed here at night till date. Not only this, when the country's fourth Prime Minister Morarji Desai also stayed  a night after visiting the temple, his government fell away the very next day. Similarly, Karnataka Chief Minister VS Yeddyurappa had to resign within a few days when he stayed in Ujjain.
