Dubai: The need for internationalisation of India's higher education system is urgent, and a multi-pronged strategy is essential, said NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, who spoke today at the India Pavilion at EXPO2020 Dubai in a session titled "Internationalisation of Indian Higher Education System."

"The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to internationalise India's higher education system and make it a Vishvaguru country. However, in order to realise this goal, we must identify and reflect on existing issues and trends ", he stated while electronically addressing the audience.

"It must be understood that the higher outflow of Indian students to overseas institutions and a significantly lower influx of students to Indian universities indicate the sub-optimal quality of education in India in comparison to foreign universities," Kant remarked.

He went on to say that all educational institutes participating in the India learning scheme should be ranked on the basis of ease of study, with a higher weighting given to feedback from international students, as this will help participating institutes improve their quality and attract more international students.
