KURNOOL: Rahul Gandhi, the leder the Congress, said on Wednesday that the new Congress president will determine his role within the party.

During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, he informed reporters at Adoni that the Congress president would be the ultimate decision-maker and determine how the party would proceed.

Before the announcement of the results of the AICC presidential poll, the Congress MP said, "He will decide what would be my function and how I am to be deployed." He declined to respond to questions about the president's role, saying the future president would address them. "The president will be the final arbiter in the eyes of the Congress party. A new Congress president will be in charge of determining how the Congress party would proceed "said Rahul.
"Both Mr. Shashi Tharoor and Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge are intelligent, experienced individuals. Whoever wins the election does not require my counsel. They will make decisions based on their knowledge and experience" he said.

Rahul responded to another question by saying he will answer to the Congress president. "Obviously. The president is the highest authority in the Congress party, and each Congress member answers to him or her." When questioned about the allegations of anomalies in the AICC presidential election in Uttar Pradesh made by the Shashi Tharoor team, he responded that the party's Election Commission would look into it.

"We hold elections as the only political party in the nation. Additionally, we are the only political party with an internal election committee. We have someone that resembles T.N. Seshan. I collaborated with Madhusudan Mistry, the head of the Central Election Authority for the Congress. He is a strong, completely honest individual. Any complaints would be brought up to the electoral commission, which will decide whether or not there were irregularities "said Rahul.

The Congress party,  is the only one having an institutional framework for dealing with problems of this nature, he said.
Rahul questioned why inquiries about other parties' internal elections were not made. "The Congress party president receives inquiries from everyone on elections. I am pleased with the open and transparent method used by the Congress party. Why does no one care about elections for other parties? Why doesn't anyone inquire? Why doesn't the BJP hold elections? The regional parties also don't hold elections. The question doesn't seem to be being posed by anyone."
