The new york police now have their very own first turbaned Sikh police officer. Gursoach Kaur who recently graduated from the new york city police academy. She will be now joining the new york police force as an auxiliary police officer.

Sikh officers association posted on their official Twitter account, a picture of the lady and a caption that read

"We are proud to welcome first Sikh turbaned female Auxiliary Police Officer in the New York Police Department. APO Gursoach Kaur and other Auxiliary Police Officers graduated from the academy. We are proud of you. Stay safe”.

The academy posted about how happy they are to welcome her into their group. They said that her joining the services will be a motivation for others to join as well.

Minister of state for housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri also posted about the lady, expressing his happiness on the issue of her joining the force, saying that this will help the US to understand Sikhism better.

It is very evident that from a long time Sikh people have been facing security issues due to their wearing of turban and serious actions have been taken by Indian government against the US security.

We really hope that her decision is legit and she makes us proud.
