When people talk about the history of the Mughal Empire, they often mention the "Navratnas" of Emperor Akbar. These were nine highly accomplished people who held important positions in his court. Some big names like Chatur Birbal, Todar Mal, and Tansen were part of this group. Akbar wanted to include Saint Goswami Tulsidas, who wrote the holy book "Ramcharitmanas," in his Navratnas. However, Tulsidas declined the offer. He said that he could only serve Lord Shri Ram and no one else.

Goswami Tulsidas answered Mughal emperor Akbar by writing a four-line verse. In this verse, Goswami Tulsidas wrote, 'Hum chakar Raghuveer ke patau likho darbar, Tulsi ab ka hoenge nar ke mansabdar.' This verse shows that Goswami Tulsidas explained that he could only serve Lord Ram and no one else. Tulsidas responded to Akbar by writing a verse. In this verse, he said that he's a servant of Lord Shri Ram and can't serve anyone else. He politely declined Akbar's offer. The Navratnas of Akbar were a famous group. Raja Man Singh, who led the Mughal army, was one of them. Fakir Ajio-Din advised Akbar on religious matters. Tansen, a famous musician, was also part of the Navratnas. Faizi was responsible for education.

Raja Todermal had an important job of managing revenue. Mullah Do Pyaza, sometimes called the Home Minister of Akbar's court, was also part of the Navratnas. Chatur Birbal, known for his cleverness, was both a minister and in the Navratnas. Abdul Rahim Khan-e-Khana was another member. He got an important position as Akbar's prime minister. Abul Fazl was also on the list of Navratnas. He served as Akbar's prime minister. These Navratnas were exceptional individuals who held significant roles in Akbar's court.
