Ankara: The earthquake has caused tremendous destruction in Turkey and Syria. So far more than 4300 people have lost their lives. At the same time, more than 15 thousand people are said to be injured. 5.6 thousand houses and buildings have been completely destroyed. In this hour of difficulty, India has extended a helping hand to Turkey. On the orders of PM Narendra Modi, India is sending immediate help to Turkey. India has sent the NDRF rescue team, medicines, and medical team to Turkey. Turkey has heartily thanked India for this help in bad times.

India's Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan reached the Turkish Embassy in India and assured to be with them in this hour of trouble. Meeting Turkish Ambassador Firat Sunel, Muraleedharan expressed grief over the devastation caused by the earthquake and also informed about the help from India. After this meeting, Firat Sunel tweeted and thanked India. He wrote in his tweet, 'Friend is a colloquial word in both Hindi and Turkish languages.' He further said that 'there is a proverb in the Turkish language. Which means a friend in need is a friend indeed. Heartfelt thanks to India.'

Let us tell you that, earlier, while replying to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's tweet, PM Modi had said, 'I am saddened by the loss of life and property due to the earthquake in Turkey. My condolences to the bereaved families. I hope that the health of the injured improves soon. India stands in solidarity with the people of Turkey and is ready to provide all possible assistance to deal with this tragedy.' Along with PM Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also condoled the devastation in Turkey. He wrote in tweeting that, 'I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and property in the earthquake in Turkey. The Foreign Minister of Turkey has been informed that our sympathies and support are with Turkey in this difficult time.'
