Nagpur: A shocking incident is coming to light from Nagpur in Maharashtra in which a son killed his own mother and then committed suicide. The case pertains to the Hindustan Colony, a residential area of Nagpur, where the son first stabbed his 75-year-old mother to death and then consumed poison himself and embraced death.
The 51-year-old boy's name is Srinivas Vishnu Chopde and his mother's name is Leela Vishnu Chopde. Srinivas was an engineer and lived with his mother in Hindustan Colony in Nagpur. He was not married and was unemployed. Due to a lack of contact for the last 3-4 days, the family members reached home, but due to the phone being switched off, no contact could be made. The family member informed the Dhantoli police station in Nagpur when the police reached the spot. Everyone was shocked to see this incident. The house was locked from the inside and there was a corpse there. The body was three to four days old.
Senior police inspector Mahesh Chavan of Nagpur's Dhantoli police station said Srinivas had committed the incident four days ago and the matter came to light on the night of April 26. The case is being investigated by the police as to why Srinivasan committed suicide by consuming poison and what was the reason for killing his mother. The police have sent both the bodies to the Government Hospital in Nagpur for postmortem and are investigating further.
