The peak of Omicron wave Soon to End In Israel: PM Naftali Bennett

Recently Israeli PM Naftali Bennett sataed the country is nearing the end of the Omicron variant's highly infectious wave. Bennett stated during a live broadcast at the start of his weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday that "we are seeing the beginning of a trend of stabilisation in the Omicron wave."

Bennett also expressed cautious optimism, saying, "I carefully chose my words to avoid the 'end of semester' attitude, and celebrating the conclusion of omicron is out of place," according to media sources. He then added, though Israel is currently "dealing with hospital congestion and a very big number of infected people."

The statements come as the Health Ministry released a report on Sunday morning showing that the coronavirus reproduction rate, often known as the R number, had dropped below 1 for the first time in months. Israel has reported a total of 2,830,161 Covid-19 cases and 8,725 deaths since the pandemic began in early 2020.
