Sahibganj: People's anger has flared up after the death of a man in police custody in Taljhari of Sahibganj district of Jharkhand. There was a lot of commotion after the incident. Angry people first blocked the road. Then went to the police station and pelted stones and ransacked. People were demanding strict action against the station in-charge.

To control the same crowd, the police resorted to a mild lathi charge and also fired tear gas shells. The police station premises remained a battlefield for almost two hours. After a lot of hard work, the police brought the situation under control. 2 jawans were injured in this whole incident. Whereas, half a dozen people have also been injured.

In fact, the Taljhari police had arrested Debu Turi, the accused named in an incident of robbery. Last Sunday, there was a robbery of about three lakhs in the Honda showroom present Jharna Tola. In the incident, two criminals including Debu Turi were brought to the police station for questioning. Suddenly Debu Turi's health deteriorated in police custody. The offender was admitted to the Community Health Center Taljhari. But in view of the situation, Sahibganj Hospital was referred. The criminal died due to treatment at Sahibganj Hospital. Now the family members of the deceased are accusing the police of torturing Debu. Now this matter is being investigated.
