New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyyy over the phone. During this time, the two heads of state talked about the ongoing war in Ukraine. PM Modi reiterated the need to move on the path of dialogue and diplomacy by ending this fight. At the same time, President Zelenskyy also thanked PM Modi for supporting Ukraine.
He also told PM Modi that in the current situation he will not hold talks with the Russian government. Zelenskyy said about Russia's threat of nuclear attack that it is a threat not only to Ukraine but to the whole world. According to a statement issued by the Ukrainian President's Office, Zelenskyy and PM Modi had a phone conversation. Zelenskyy stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership between Ukraine and India against the Russian attack against Ukraine. During this time, the two leaders also talked about the referendum on Russian-occupied places in Ukraine.
President Zelenskyy said that all decisions aimed at trying to illegally occupy Ukrainian territories are void and do not change the reality. During this, Zelenskyy said that in the current situation, Ukraine will not talk to the current government of Russia. However, he said Ukraine has always been in favour of resolving the issue on the strength of dialogue. He said Russia was not ready for talks and deliberately acted to undermine the process.
