MUMBAI: A humanistic face is seen of rebel Shiv Sena MLAs camping in Guwahati amid the political turmoil in Maharashtra. Eknath Shinde tweeted on Wednesday that Shiv Sena MLAs and allies have taken the step of providing Rs 51 lakh in view of the flood situation in Assam. This amount will be given to the CM Relief Fund of Assam.

The devastating floods have created havoc in Assam. More than 25 lakh people of the state have been affected by this. So far 139 people have lost their lives due to this calamity. Eknath Shinde, who has become a crisis for the Uddhav Thackeray-led coalition government in Maharashtra, has been standing with the rebel MLAs at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati since June 22.

Now that the Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari has decided to conduct the floor test of the Uddhav government in the assembly on Thursday, 30 June, the rebel MLAs are ready to leave from Guwahati. However, against the governor's order of floor test, Shiv Sena Chief VIP Sunil Prabhu has reached the Supreme Court. Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for him, has told the Supreme Court that the floor test is illegal as it cannot include MLAs facing disqualification. Thereafter, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear the petition at 5 pm today.
