Diwali or Deepawali is a festival of lights, happiness, enjoyment along with customs and traditions. Many rituals are attached to this festival of mainly Hindus but celebrated by everyone.

Diwali is a five day long festival. The each day has different essence and importance. People exchange gifts, sweets, play crackers, wears new clothes throughout the five days.Today we give all details of five days of Diwali.

First Day of Diwali:

The first day of Diwali started with 'Dhanteras'. Every home is decorated with lamps and candles and diyas which lit throughout the night. Girls make Rangoli in front of their door in order to welcome goddess Lakshmi. Buy gold or silver or utensils on this day is very lucky.

Second Day of Diwali:

The second day is called 'Roopchaudas' on which people take bath before sunrise with oil and ubtan. Women get ready with beautiful clothes and 'solah shringar' on 'Roopchaudas'.As per Bengali, Goddess Kali killed the demon Raktavija on this day. 

Third Day of Diwali:

The third day is 'Diwali'. On this day, people wear new clothes and exchange gifts and sweets with their friends and relatives. Women prepare delicious food and whole house is decorated with diyas, candles and lights. Children play fireworks and crackers on this day. Also Lakshmi ji is worshipped in every house on Diwali eve.

Fourth Day of Diwali:

The 4th day of Diwali is called 'Govardhan-Puja' or 'Annakoot'. The day is celebrated all around India but especially in the temples of Mathura and Nathadwara, the deities are bathed with milk and adorned with precious clothes and ornaments. 

Fifth Day of Diwali:

The last day of Diwali is called 'Bhai Duj' especially mean to Bhai-Behen, sisters invite their brothers to her homes and treat them with delicacies. In turn, brothers offer them his sister gifts and sweets.
